Last week, Cash Money CEO Birdman traveled to Toronto to finalize a signing deal with Canadian singer J-Soul. Speculations began to escalate about the relationship of the two when J-Soul released pictures of him and Birdman with captions such as, “Last year I was homeless,” or “Life’s about to change,” on Instagram.

J-Soul officially announced the deal by releasing a video for his song “Toronto Plaza Motel”. The rest of his videos and music have been taken down from SoundCloud and YouTube since his signing, but his November Twelve mixtape is currently available for download.

Birdman is still bringing in millions of dollars through his long term relationship with Drake, who was the last Toronto artist Birdman signed to Cash Money. Similar to Drake, though, J-Soul bridges a gap of rapping and singing and is likely to bring Cash Money back into some paper.
