The Florida rapper releases a cinematic single in support of his upcoming Fall tour.
Denzel Curry’s roots started growing from the gutters of Carol City, Florida. He made his original mark as a part of the group Raider Klan, led by his then-mentor Spaceghostpurrp. He rose up thanks to the the impeccable quality of his projects and unique vision. Even in his early works like Strictly for My R.V.I.D.X.R.Z you are absorbed by the psychedelic mist of his music, as he attacks every beat with his trademark rapid fire flow. His Nostalgic 64 and 32 Zel albums are superb works of music. They prove that Denzel is one of the nicest rappers breathing.
2016 has been an eventful year for the Florida rapper. He had a brief beef with his former mentor – he absolutely destroyed him with this flaming diss track (take notes, Drake). He dropped a full LP, titled Imperial, in March. Denzel went from dropping obscure mixtapes to having Rick Ross – biggest rapper from Florida – on his record. Denzel’s talent was also rightfully noticed, and he was placed in this year’s XXL Freshmen class. He was arguably one of the few in the class who could spit hard bars in a cypher.
A week ago, he announced the “Black Metal Terrorist” fall tour with Compton rapper Boogie. He dropped a new single “Today” with Boogie and Allan Kingdom in support of the BMT tour. Producer FNZ provided a dope futuristic beat in the style of Denzel’s recent album. Denzel and Boogie discuss the jealousy and betrayal issues they face from those who surround them, as Allan K slurs a trippy A6utotune hook.
Catch Denzel and Boogie in Boston. They will be playing the Middle East on September 25th.
You should also check out Boogie’s debut mixtape Thirst 48 because Complex and HotNewHipHop don’t give out co-signs for nothing.
